There is an easy list of your failures, soon to be former president, Mr. Bush. From no WMDs in Iraq, to assigning "Brownie" as the head of FEMA, and your failure in not recognizing the recession a year ago. These are easy to recognize. There is one failure however I have no right to throw at you. That failure and problem is that I gave up hope during these several years and after 911. And in giving up hope I simply didn't try hard enough.
This isn't your fault.
And I imagine it's an interesting challenge to be a bumbling fool-hearted leader of a nation of hopeless. But I can't speak for everyone. I'm sure many never gave in but one too many did.
So my apologies to George W. Bush. I should not have assigned my fear and resentment towards you. I should have recognized that you weren't the end of the world.
